This morning was pleasant, enveloped in refreshing air. The temperature is 20°C, with a forecast of reaching 25°C during the day. Though there are clouds, the sun is shining brightly, and its dazzling light reaches deep into the room. Opening the windows and front door to let the breeze in brings in a pleasant, not-at-all-chilly wind that fills the room like natural air conditioning. A light rain of about 1mm is forecast for tonight, so it might just be a brief shower.

🍞 Mom’s Morning Routine

My mornings always start with waking Mom up while preparing breakfast. Today started with her usual line, “I’m not getting up, I’m sleeping,” and even though she grumbled, “Just take your medicine and go back to sleep,” she ended up getting up anyway.

After she used the restroom, I helped her sit in her chair. This morning’s menu was a croissant, frozen fruit, yogurt with honey, an apple-banana, and a little coffee. After taking her medicine, she said, “I’m going back to sleep,” and lay down watching TV.

This feeling that the “usual pattern” has returned brings me a little peace of mind.

👕 Laundry and Housework Routine

The weather was nice this morning, so I ran the washing machine. There’s a breeze, so everything should be thoroughly dry by evening. The bath towels make it look like a lot, but it’s actually not that much. It’s my strategy to avoid piling it up over the weekend, but whether it works depends on my mood that day.

Mom is finding housework harder now, so running the washing machine is my job. Getting it done in the morning lightens my mood.

🍳 Today’s Plans and Making Staple Meals

No particular plans today, just shopping for dishwasher detergent. We seem to have enough ingredients for two people.

Since I have a bit of time, I’m thinking of making some staple meals that keep well and putting them in containers. Having things I can just heat up or eat cold is a lifesaver on busy days.

But it’s still morning, my brain isn’t fully awake yet, so I’ll figure out what to make later.

🗑️ The Convenient Apartment Building Trash Station

I sorted the trash last night, so I plan to take it out after writing this blog post.

Our apartment building has huge trash stations in both Building A and Building B, set up so you can dispose of trash 24/7. It’s a huge help not having to rush during the hectic morning hours.

For plastic bottles, just remove the labels and caps, sort them, and toss them into the large bins. Cardboard can be placed in the space next to the elevator, so many people seem to drop it off on their way out. These little conveniences really support daily life.

🌸 Changes in the Cherry Blossoms and Memories of My Father

This morning, the cherry blossoms were about half pink and half green, making me feel the changing seasons. The peak bloom has passed, and now I look forward to the cherries forming. Birds visit frequently, so I expect to spend more time watching them from the balcony.

My late father also used to enjoy watching the birds come, holding onto the handrail. Seeing that view every morning before breakfast and heading to daycare was his daily routine.

Soon, my mother too may step away from her chores and find more time to leisurely enjoy the morning scenery. Though it’s only a little longer, I’m glad we could savor this year’s cherry blossoms together.
