🤕 Mom’s Migraine That Started This Morning
Mom had been complaining of a headache repeatedly since this morning. The weather was bad and it had been raining, so it was the kind of situation that triggers migraines. I gave her medicine early on to manage it, but she was surprisingly energetic and seemed able to move around, even while grumbling.

🧺 Picking Up Dry Cleaning
Just before noon, she said, “I want to pick up the dry cleaning,” so we headed to Marusan Laundry at Kyozuka San-A, combining it with some shopping. The store was packed—probably due to spring break—and overflowing with children and older generations. I had Mom sit on a bench on the first floor, picked up the dry cleaning, and took it to the car. After that, I went back to Mom and we did a little shopping.

🍽️ Lunch at the Food Court
We went to the food court a little later than usual for lunch, but it was still crowded and bustling. As soon as a seat opened up, I sat my mother down and got her some water and tea. When I asked her what she wanted to eat, she said, “Anything is fine,” but then kept saying, “No, not that,” and “No, not this.” Finally, we settled on the “Yushi Tofu and Juicy Set.” I ordered the “Okinawa Soba Juicy Set.”
With elementary school kids running around and middle schoolers studying with their textbooks spread out, the food court was bustling like a large community center. It made me feel a little nostalgic, reminding me of how we used to be when we were young.

☕ A Post-Meal Break
After picking up our food, I told my mother, “Take your time eating,” and had her eat from a side plate to let it cool down. She managed to eat about 80% of it today—she really did her best. After lunch, I bought coffee at A&W and got some tea for my mom. By then, the food court had cleared out, and we finally had a chance to relax.

🚗 Conversation on the Way Home and a Nap
On the way back, we saw a banner for the “Okinawa Exhibition” in front of the Urasoe Gymnasium, and my mom asked, “What’s that?” When I explained it was an art and craft exhibition, she immediately replied, “I’m not going today.” After we got home, she took her medicine and took a nap for about two hours. She woke up a little after 3:00 p.m. and said, “I want a snack,” so we each ate half of a mini Baumkuchen I’d bought at the convenience store.

📺 How We Spent the Evening
After that, she dozed in and out of sleep while watching TV. Even though she said there was nothing to watch now that the sumo was over, she spent the time calmly, flipping through the channels. We continued to enjoy a leisurely time without sleeping until dinner.

🍲 Tonight’s Dinner
Dinner was a dish of pre-made cabbage rolls topped with white sauce made using a pre-purchased mushroom mix. Even though Mom said, “I have a headache, I feel sick,” she ate heartily, finishing one cabbage roll, the mushroom white stew, and half a bowl of rice. She really ate well today.
After that, she took her medicine and went back to bed. Once she takes her evening medicine, the day is over.

🧼 After Finishing the Housework
I ran the dishwasher, and the housework was finally done. I felt a sense of relief that the day was finally over.

🌙 Summary

Shopping and eating out in the crowds was tough, but the time spent watching over my mother has become a precious record of our daily life. It was an evening filled with quiet gratitude that we were able to get through the day safely once again.

This care mug has been a great help on days when my mother feels weak or has headaches. She can drink safely without worrying about spilling, even while lying in bed. The design is simple and comfortable to hold, and she often says it makes her feel more confident when drinking on her own. It’s a small item, but it brings a lot of convenience to our daily caregiving.
