In Okinawa, just before the end of the rainy season, the moment the skies clear, the feeling of summer intensifies all at once, and daily life tends to be influenced by the weather. Today, I’ll be documenting the morning weather in Urasoe, Okinawa, and how I’m experiencing the changing seasons in my daily life.
🌤️ A Morning Scene in Urasoe, Okinawa, with a Vast Blue Sky
This morning, a crystal-clear blue sky stretches out, and the contrast with the white clouds is the very essence of summer. There’s hardly any wind—just an occasional gentle breeze brushing my cheeks—and the air feels even gentler than the soft breeze from a fan.
I started the washing machine early this morning, watched the news while waiting for the first load to finish, and then started the second one right away. I have a bit more laundry than usual today, but with a forecast of sunny skies all day (10% chance of rain) and high temperatures, it should dry thoroughly. weather.yahoo.co.jp
Since there’s a possibility of a typhoon approaching this weekend, I spent the morning planning my schedule to make sure I didn’t leave any laundry undone.

👪 A peaceful morning with my family
When I went to wake my mother, she got up after just a few calls. Perhaps she had woken up naturally because I’d been walking around the room gathering laundry since early morning.
I served tea to my mother once she sat down and prepared some soup and a croissant. After offering the same items at my father’s Buddhist altar, I took the laundry out of the washing machine and headed to the balcony.
“Be sure to eat breakfast,” I called out before stepping outside, where I was greeted by a blue sky so beautiful it brought a smile to my face. As I hung up the laundry and looked up at the sky, I murmured to myself, “Summer has arrived.” It was such a pleasant morning.
Hanging laundry on a sunny day feels like a gift from God.

🏥 Getting ready to go to Higa Eye Clinic and today’s schedule
I’m getting an early start today. In addition to my mother’s routine checkup, I’ve been concerned about symptoms of floaters myself, so I’m scheduled for an appointment this afternoon. Since there’s a possibility I might undergo laser treatment as an outpatient, the hospital instructed me not to drive, so I’ve decided to walk there.
Because of this, I plan to eat lunch early, take a shower, and then take a leisurely walk with my mother. I might not be able to post on my blog for a few days, but I’ll be sure to report back later.
