🌤️ This Morning’s Air and Temperature
It’s a bit cool in Okinawa this morning at 23°C, and the forecast calls for temperatures to rise to 27°C during the day. The wind is expected to pick up in the evening, so it looks like it will be a sunny day. As I hung out my futon this morning, I could feel the season shifting toward summer. It’s getting hot enough at night to sleep with a fan on, and it’s definitely time to switch out my bedding for summer. I’m waking up around 6 a.m. more often due to the heat, and the signs of summer are growing stronger day by day.

🍃 The View from the Balcony
Stepping out onto the balcony, a light northeast breeze was blowing. The air was dry and felt pleasant against my skin. The leaves of the cherry tree in the garden swayed gently, and the sunlight filtering through the clouds was soft. It was a morning with just the right balance of coolness and brightness. There was no chill in the air, and a refreshing, quintessentially Okinawan atmosphere filled the air.

☕ My Morning Routine and My Mother’s Condition
I woke up a little early today and stayed up to relax in the living room while watching the news. For breakfast, I had bread and coffee, while my mother had yogurt, half a slice of bread, a banana, and tea. After eating, she took her medication, checked her blood pressure, and once she finished tidying up, I had time to write this blog post.
My mother dozed off a bit after breakfast, but today is the day for the “Lively Health Club.” If she falls asleep, she’ll miss it, so I plan to wake her up when the time comes. She said, “I’m going today,” so she seems determined. I think she’ll be fine once the time comes.

🌙 Last Night’s Health and Concerns
After returning from day care yesterday, she wasn’t feeling well—complaining of a headache, feeling sick, and refusing to eat—so I had her eat a little and rest early. However, it seems he ended up staying awake until around 10 p.m. watching TV, and he woke up several times during the night to move around due to leg pain, needing to use the restroom, or wanting a drink. Each time, I had to get up to check on him, so I’m starting to feel a bit more worried. While it’s not as bad as it was with his father, I’m concerned that his nighttime awakenings are increasing.

🌧️ Recent Weather and the Start of the Rainy Season
Yesterday’s news reported that “there has been little rain.” It’s true that it’s been cloudy a lot, but I don’t really remember any substantial rain. The reservoir levels are also low—around 50% compared to the usual 70–80%—so I’m hoping for some rain during the upcoming rainy season.
According to the forecast, the rainy season is expected to begin around the first week of May, which coincides with Golden Week. It’s supposed to end in early June, lasting about a month as usual. Visitors coming to Okinawa for sightseeing will need to bring umbrellas or raincoats to prepare for the rain. I really hope we get some good rain, at least up on the dam.

🛒 Today’s Plans
My mother said she wants to go shopping this afternoon, so I plan to go out with her after I get home. It seems she has something specific she wants to buy, so it looks like I’ll be running around quite a bit again today.
