☁️ This morning in Urasoe, Okinawa, the sky is softly overcast
This morning in Urasoe, it was a quiet morning with the entire sky shrouded in pale gray.
The temperature is around 23–24°C, humidity is on the high side, and the wind is blowing a bit strongly.
Although it isn’t raining, the chance of precipitation is high this morning, and the sky looks like it could start drizzling at any moment.
For those planning a trip to Okinawa,
you might be wondering, “What’s Okinawa like on a cloudy day?”
But actually, on days like this, the light is soft and the colors of the city look subdued,
making it the perfect time for a stroll or visiting cafes.

🛏️ A slightly late morning and my mother’s unusual behavior
I felt sluggish myself today and woke up a little later than usual.
Maybe my body isn’t used to the medication yet—some days it takes me a while to get out of bed.
My mother, on the other hand, was up early, which is rare for her.
Even though she said, “I have a headache,” she was surprisingly energetic, walking around the house.
These “small changes” become important daily observation points when you’re providing care.

🍩 Breakfast and the gentle start to housework
Breakfast today was a donut and coffee I bought at the convenience store last night.
My mother had half a donut, some tea, and a little bit of banana.
After breakfast, when I said, “Time for your medicine and blood pressure check,”
she went along with it without any fuss, so the morning routine went very smoothly.
After that, my mother said she wanted to “run the washing machine,” so we worked on it together.
As I pressed the start button while refilling the detergent,
Mom wandered around the room with an Iris Ohyama handheld vacuum cleaner in one hand.
Since the battery life is short,
she complained, “It doesn’t run for long,”
but when I said, “Let’s just do half today and finish tomorrow,” she agreed.
After that, she grabbed a Quickle Wiper
and continued cleaning while walking slowly around the room.

🧺 A quiet moment for me: writing my blog while the dishwasher runs
I loaded all the dishes from last night and this morning into the dishwasher,
and while it’s running, I’m writing my blog in the living room.
I’m keeping an eye on Mom,
making sure she doesn’t get too tired this morning.
Since she has day care in the afternoon, I’m pacing her so she doesn’t overexert herself.

🛒 Shopping in the afternoon. Restocking Okinawan ingredients and daily necessities
I plan to go shopping this afternoon as well.
Since I bought a bunch of groceries the other day,
today I intend to restock on cases of water and cleaning supplies.
We also have “Shima Rakkyo” in the fridge,
so I’d like to make some Okinawan-style preserved foods,
like pickling them in salt or using a quick-pickling mix.
There are days when my body feels heavy and it’s hard to move,
but once I finish writing this blog post, I’m determined to push through and get that far.

🚗 Driving is a little more fun with the car stereo I installed yesterday
I finished installing the car stereo yesterday,
and the car instantly became much more comfortable.
You don’t usually notice it,
but a car without music playing is surprisingly lonely.
Thanks to the new stereo,
I think my mood will be a little brighter on the way to the store today.

🌿 Even under cloudy skies, mornings in Okinawa flow by at a leisurely pace
Okinawa under cloudy skies has a charm all its own, different from sunny days.
The light is soft, the breeze is pleasant,
and even the time spent indoors feels somehow peaceful.
My days caring for my family are often hectic,
but when I notice a slow-paced morning like this,
I find myself thinking, “I’ll just take it easy today, too.”
Let’s take it easy and do our best today, under the Okinawan sky.

“Some mornings feel heavier than others, especially when you’re caring for a loved one. A lightweight cordless handheld vacuum makes quick cleaning so much easier. It’s gentle on your arms, easy to carry around the house, and perfect for picking up dust in those small corners. If you want to keep your home tidy without overworking yourself, this little tool really helps.”
“On days when you don’t have the energy for a full cleaning routine, quick wet wipes for the floor can be a lifesaver. They’re great for humid climates where floors can feel sticky, and they let you freshen up the room in just a few minutes. Perfect for anyone balancing caregiving and daily chores while still wanting a clean, comfortable home.”
