☁️ Morning Air and Today’s Weather / Morning Weather

This morning in Naha, Okinawa, the temperature was around 27°C with humidity over 90% under cloudy skies.

A southerly wind blew strongly at times, making the air feel warm and clinging to my skin.

The weather forecast predicted cloudy skies in the morning with rain intensifying in the afternoon,

and sure enough, by evening, we observed heavy rain and winds strong enough to resemble a typhoon.

The humidity made it hard for laundry to dry, and the air from the morning made me think, “I’ll have to use the dryer today.”

It was a heavy, humid morning, typical of Okinawa’s rainy season.

🍞 Morning Routine with My Mother

I woke up a little later than usual this morning. As I turned on the TV to watch the news,

my mother got up and went to the bathroom. She tried to go right back to bed, so I called out to her,

urging her, “Let’s eat breakfast and take your medicine before you go back to sleep,” and had her sit down in a chair.

When I served her bread and soup, she skillfully ate “just the red bean paste” from the anpan,

leaving half the bread behind—her usual, laid-back way of eating.

When I asked, “Why don’t you eat it all?”

she replied, “I just wanted to eat the red bean paste today.”

She put the rest back in a plastic bag and said, “I’ll eat it for a snack.”

Lately, she’s been getting up to use the bathroom more often at night, and there are days when her responses are a bit vague,

so I plan to keep an eye on her for a while and consult with her doctor if necessary.

I’m keeping a close watch on her while also considering adjusting her sleeping medication.

🧺 Laundry and a Break at San-A / Laundry & Coffee Time

I started the washing machine right after breakfast and headed to Kyozuka San-A as soon as it finished.

Since it was Saturday and Starbucks was packed, I went to Mister Donut today.

There was a long line outside for their limited-edition items,

but I was able to get in smoothly through a separate entrance for dine-in customers.

I found a seat, opened my laptop,

and worked on a blog draft while the 30-minute dryer timer was running.

Typing away while nibbling on coffee and donuts

is also a little “morning treat” for myself.

🛒 Lunch & Afternoon

Once the drying cycle finished, I went to retrieve my laundry,

only to find almost all the dryers in full use. There was someone waiting the moment I took mine out.

I offered my spot to the next person and headed to the bento section at Sanei.

I chose a tonkatsu bento for myself and a variety bento with a wider selection for my mother.

After getting home, my mother said she was “going back to sleep,” so I ate lunch first,

ran some errands, and returned home around 3:00 p.m.

When I asked, my mother had, unusually, finished her entire bento.

I took a pudding out of the fridge for a snack, and she ate it with a happy expression.

After that, it was our usual afternoon of relaxing while watching TV.

Outside, the wind gradually picked up and the clouds grew thicker;

by evening, I could see from the window that rain clouds were spreading toward Naha.

🌧️ Heavy Evening Rain and Dinner / Heavy Evening Rain

Around 6:00 PM, it was raining and windy outside like a typhoon.

The heavy rain was exactly as forecast—it was dangerous enough that going out would have been risky.

For dinner, I simply reheated leftovers from the past few days,

making a “whatever’s-in-the-fridge” meal that also served to clean out the fridge.

Days like this aren’t so bad.

📝 Today’s Summary

This morning in Naha: 27°C, high humidity, cloudy skies

Mom seemed a bit sleepy, but she ate at her own pace.

Did laundry and shopping at San-A, then worked at Mister Donut.

Had a bento for lunch; Mom finished hers, which is rare.

Typhoon-level heavy rain started in the evening.

Just one post today; I plan to get back on track and update regularly starting next week.

It was a typical humid Okinawan day,

but the fact that Mom’s appetite has returned was a small comfort today.

Next week, I’ll try to get back into a better rhythm and continue chronicling our daily life.
