🌅 This Morning’s Okinawa Sky and Temperature
Good morning.
This morning in Okinawa, the sky is clear and crisp, making for a very pleasant start to the day. The temperature is 16°C. Even in winter, the air has that characteristic Okinawan softness, and opening the window brings in a refreshingly cool breeze. Breathing in the crisp morning air naturally makes me feel like, “Let’s do our best today.”
🍞 French Toast Breakfast and Leisurely Time
Today’s breakfast was French toast made with milk, eggs, and brown sugar.
I soaked it briefly in the egg mixture, then cooked it in a pan with olive oil until lightly browned. The gentle sweetness of the brown sugar spread softly, making it the perfect morning flavor. I had a light meal with coffee and am now enjoying some leisurely time.
Since it was calm and windless, I decided to air out the blankets and pillows. Even at night in Okinawa’s winter, two blankets are plenty. Since you can still sweat sometimes, airing them out regularly keeps them feeling fresh and comfortable.
👕 The View from the Apartment Garden and Okinawan Winter Attire
Looking out the window at the garden beside the apartment building, I saw kids in short sleeves and shorts running around energetically.
Okinawa’s winter is truly unique—you even see adults wearing jeans and short sleeves. Especially burly Americans—you often spot them walking around home centers in short sleeves and shorts even in the dead of winter. It’s a quintessentially Okinawan sight, and just watching it makes me feel a little warm inside.
👨👩👦 Family Time and Morning Chores
Since it’s a holiday weekend, my younger brother came to check on Mom. Thanks to that, I was able to take some time to write my blog post at a leisurely pace.
This morning, I ran the dishwasher while tidying up. Since I’d already done the laundry yesterday, today started off calmly without any particular rush.
🛒 Afternoon Plans and Shopping
I plan to go out for some shopping this afternoon, heading to our usual San-A supermarket. Picking up daily necessities and groceries while strolling through the store is a nice change of pace.
🌸 The Cherry Blossoms Next to My Apartment
I’m also curious about how the cherry blossoms next to my apartment building are doing.
They don’t look ready to bloom yet, but I have a feeling they might burst open all at once if another cold snap hits. Okinawa’s cherry blossoms are a deep pink, and when they start blooming, they become incredibly vibrant all at once. That’s why I look forward to this time of year every year.
