🧺 Dropping Off the Carpet at Futon Maki Jiro
In the afternoon, I headed to “Futon Maki Jiro” to have the carpet washed that had been laid out in the living room during the winter. I arrived at the shop around 11:30 a.m. A female staff member was there, so I showed her the care label and asked, “Can you wash and dry this?” She replied, “No problem. We’ll have a slot open in 10 minutes, so if you leave the payment with me, I’ll put it in the wash.”
Without thinking, I said, “Please do,” and left it with her.
She told me, “Please come pick it up by 1:00 p.m.,” so I left the shop for a bit.
🍱 Lunch at Hotto Motto
Since I hadn’t cooked rice at home, I headed straight to “Hotto Motto.”
There was no line, so I immediately ordered a **nori bento** and a **yakiniku bibimbap bento**.
As I sat inside waiting, I saw a mountain of bags—presumably pre-ordered bento boxes—lined up in the kitchen. The staff were swamped, and it seemed especially busy today. After waiting 15 minutes, I picked up the warm bento boxes and headed home. I ate with my mom and took a short break.

🧼 Picking up the carpet
Around 12:50 PM, I headed back to Futonmaki Jiro.
There were only 10 minutes left until closing time, so I waited inside. Customers kept coming in one after another, and it looked like it was going to be busy until the evening. I successfully picked up the carpet and headed home.

🍖 Afternoon Kitchen Work: Cooking Soki
Around 3:00 PM, I started preparing the Soki.
🥘 Preparing the Soki
- – Cook from cold water; once it boils, drain the water
- – Since there wasn’t much fat, I transferred them directly to the pressure cooker
- – Added sake, soy sauce, mirin, 3 slices of ginger, and the green parts of the green onions
- – Pressurized and cooked over medium heat for about 30 minutes

🍢 Preparing the Daikon Radish
- – Peeled and cut into quarters
- – Parboil, then simmer in sake, sugar, soy sauce, and mirin
- – Once the pork ribs are done, combine everything and simmer to blend the flavors
- – Turn off the heat and let it sit for a while; the flavors will penetrate further and make it even more delicious

🥚 Boiled eggs at the same time
While the daikon was parboiling, I also made hard-boiled eggs for the salad.

🥗 Making Potato Salad
- – Boil the potatoes
- – Add the eggs that were boiled with the daikon
- – Season with salt and pepper, then mash
- – Let cool, then add mayonnaise to finish
🌆 Today’s Summary
The afternoon flew by in a flash with errands and cooking.
I managed to wash the carpet, and by evening, I’d finished the simmered pork ribs and daikon, as well as the potato salad.
The house gradually filled with a pleasant aroma, creating a peaceful atmosphere.
