🌤️ Today’s Weather in Okinawa and How the Morning Went
Good morning.
It was a bit cloudy in Urasoe from the morning on, with high humidity, making for a muggy day.
The temperature in the morning was 28–29°C, with humidity around 80%.
Even with the balcony and front door open and the fan running, the indoor thermometer stayed at 29°C.
It didn’t drop at all—a typical Okinawan “start of summer” morning.
👵 My Mother’s Morning Routine and Breakfast
This morning, my mother got up on her own and walked over saying, “I’m going to the bathroom.”
When she came back and sat in her chair, she said, “I’ll have some tea,” so I prepared it and handed it to her.
I told her, “I’m making breakfast, so don’t go back to bed,” and went to prepare breakfast.
Today’s breakfast was our family’s standard Japanese meal.
Dashi-flavored rolled omelet
Grilled salmon
Bacon
My mother ate everything without leaving any leftovers, took her medicine, and seemed to be in good spirits.
When I asked, “Why don’t you go to the Ikiki Health Club today?” she replied, “I’ll go.”
I had my computer class in the morning, and Mom went to the club.
The day started off at just the right pace for both of us.
📻 Nostalgic music playing on the radio
As I was writing this blog with the radio on,
the nostalgic song “She Blinded Me With Science” by Thomas Dolby came on.
Back in my youth, I was fascinated by foreign music and bought albums just based on their covers.
At first, I bought them without even knowing the music, just because of the cover art,
but as I listened, my tastes changed, and this album ultimately became the catalyst
that got me hooked on hard rock and heavy metal.
It brought back memories of the smell of record stores back then, the unique atmosphere of the import section,
and even that “thrill of discovering an unknown world.”
🍽️ Lunch and Shopping Time
In the afternoon, my mom said she wanted to go to Matsumoto Kiyoshi, so we went out.
For lunch, we went to the food court at Kyozuka Sanei.
Mini Joyfull
My mom had the daily special, and I had a hamburger steak and fried shrimp.
In the end, I gave my mom my fried chicken and fried shrimp,
and it turned into the usual routine where I think, “Maybe I should have ordered the other way around.”
After that, we bought cold medicine at Matsumoto Kiyoshi,
and since she said, “I’m thirsty,” we went to Baskin-Robbins.
Mom had vanilla, and I had cookie cream.
Mom ate it all slowly but seemed satisfied.
💤 Resting After Coming Home and My Recent Daily Routine
After we got home, Mom said, “I’m going to sleep until dinner,” so she went to bed.
I was tired too, so I took a nap for about two hours.
Lately, Mom has been getting unsteady on her feet more often when she goes to the bathroom at night,
so I’ve been staying up until nearly midnight out of concern.
I wake up a little after 7 a.m. and spend my days working on blog drafts in between tasks.
Ideally, I’d like to keep posting twice a day—once in the morning and once at noon—
but depending on my daily routine and caregiving responsibilities, the timing sometimes gets off track.
Today was one of those days, so I ended up combining my morning and evening activities into a single post.
📝 Today’s Summary
A muggy, slightly overcast day in Okinawa from morning on.
Mom was feeling well and joined her health club.
Lunch at San-A, some shopping, and then Baskin-Robbins ice cream.
After returning home, both Mom and I took a nap to rest.
Worries about nighttime caregiving and adjusting my blog posting schedule.
Amid the muggy air, the time spent with Mom and
the nostalgic music playing on the radio made for a day that will stay with me.
