津波警報

☁️ Weather Update

  • Since early this morning, the sky has been overcast and gloomy.
  • A strong southerly wind has been blowing, and occasional gusts rush through the room.
  • High temperatures and humidity make it feel muggy and heavy.

🌊 Tsunami Warnings and Advisories

  • An earthquake near the Philippines has triggered tsunami warnings and advisories across Okinawa.
  • The tsunami is expected to reach the Okinawa coast around 11:30 a.m..
  • My smartphone has been sounding alerts repeatedly, creating a tense atmosphere.

📢 This Morning’s Events

While I was writing this blog post, the alarms went off again, making me pause for a moment.
For now, I’m sharing this as a brief breaking news update.
(*I will add “Scenes from This Morning” later below.)

☁️ This Morning’s Sky and Wind Conditions

In Urasoe City, the sky remained cloudy, and strong winds occasionally swept through the room.
The clouds were moving quickly, and rain clouds could be seen in the distance, making me think, “It might rain later.”

🌊 Tsunami Warning Issued

My smartphone continued to sound alarms throughout the morning as tsunami warnings were repeatedly issued following the earthquake near the Philippines.
TV programs were interrupted with emergency announcements, and the expected arrival time of the tsunami was stated as around 11:30 a.m..

🧩 Update From This Point

I had trouble getting up this morning, still feeling the fatigue from the previous days.
Even after boiling water in the kettle and calling my mother several times, it took a while before she finally got up. It was a slow and quiet start to the day.

For breakfast:

  • Me: Coffee and a croissant
  • Mom: Green tea and a croissant

While we were eating, the TV suddenly displayed a “Tsunami Warning,” and immediately afterward, my phone alarm went off again.

My mother looked worried and asked, “Will we be okay?”
I reassured her, saying, “We’ll be fine as long as we stay away from the ocean. Let’s go to Kyozuka San-A later.”
Since it’s located on higher ground, it’s a safer place to be during warnings like this.

🛏️ My Mother’s Morning Routine

After breakfast, I gave her her medication, checked her blood pressure, and completed our usual morning routine.
When she asked, “Can I lie down now?” I told her, “Yes, relax and watch TV. We’ll head out before noon.”

She seems better off resting today. Since she has day care tomorrow, I want her to take it easy and not push herself.

🛒 Afternoon Plans and Safety Measures

Our plans for this afternoon include:

  • Doing laundry at Kyozuka San-A (coin laundry)
  • Stopping by Matsumoto Kiyoshi to buy my mother’s cosmetics
  • Having lunch afterward

Depending on the tsunami warning situation, we may need to stay at San-A for a while since it’s on higher ground.

I expect many elderly people to gather there, so the food court might be crowded.
Since my mother walks while holding onto a shopping cart, I’ll be extra careful to ensure her safety.

📢 Updates and Future Information

The Japan Meteorological Agency is expected to provide more details about the earthquake soon.
I will continue updating this post as the situation develops throughout the afternoon.

Please stay away from the coast and remain in a safe location.
