☀️This Morning’s Sky in Urasoe, Okinawa

This morning in Urasoe, Okinawa, the sky was clear. At 9:00 a.m., the temperature was 29°C and the humidity was 74%, with the air still carrying a hint of summer. At this time of year in Okinawa, while the sunlight is strong, clouds tend to build up as the afternoon progresses, and sudden showers (passing showers) are common in some areas. Our daily rhythm tends to be influenced by the weather. Today, I’ll be documenting the morning scene in Minatogawa and a day in our caregiving life.

Maybe the cherry blossoms are blooming?

🌅 A Leisurely Morning in Minatogawa

I woke up slowly this morning and opened the window, letting a refreshing breeze fill the room—a pleasant start to the day. I turned on the TV to watch the news while gazing at the partly cloudy sky, taking a moment to feel the changing seasons. According to the calendar, it’s autumn, but here in Okinawa, the mornings and evenings are just starting to feel cool.

It’s a bit cloudy, but the forecast calls for overcast skies starting this afternoon. It’s still hot during the day, but mornings and evenings feel cool.

☕ Breakfast with My Mother and Care Time

I woke my mother up, and this morning we enjoyed a leisurely breakfast of bread and coffee. Even though she said she was sleepy, she ate half a piece of bread and had some tea to wet her throat, and we spent a peaceful time together watching the news.

In my daily caregiving life, these “usual mornings” are very important. Even on days when she doesn’t eat much, I choose foods she can manage without straining herself, and by taking our time and chatting, I try to respect her pace.

In the meantime, I run the washing machine, clear the dishes, and load the dishwasher. Once I finish my morning cleaning, all that’s left is to rinse the rice for lunch. My mother plans to rest a bit until just before noon, following her usual rhythm of sleeping, waking up, eating, and then sleeping again.

🌧️ Managing Health Before a Typhoon and Seasonal Fluctuations

With a typhoon forecast to approach starting this weekend, this is a time when I’m concerned about how changes in atmospheric pressure might affect her health. Although she’s been doing well these past few days without any migraines, she tends to get sick easily before a typhoon, so I’m keeping a close eye on her while maintaining a steady rhythm of meals and rest.

Autumn in Okinawa is characterized by “sporadic showers”—sudden downpours even on sunny days—and it’s not uncommon for the weather to shift from torrential rain to clear skies within just a 1-kilometer drive. Since the unstable weather typical of the pre-typhoon period is expected to continue, I took advantage of today’s sunny weather to finish the laundry—a “laundry strategy” designed to avoid the bad weather this weekend.

🌿 Seasonal Living Wisdom: Making the Most of the “Cool Mornings” in Okinawan Autumn

In Okinawa, autumn is a season where daytime heat lingers, but the mornings and evenings bring a pleasant breeze. In daily caregiving, making good use of these “cool morning hours” allows us to comfortably carry out activities such as:

  • Ventilating the room
  • Light housework
  • Short walks

Additionally, since changes in atmospheric pressure before a typhoon can easily cause physical discomfort, being mindful of hydration, salt intake, and getting rest early helps manage my mother’s health.

✨ Summary

A clear, sunny morning in Minatogawa. It was a day spent building up moments of tranquility while feeling the changing seasons and fluctuations in the weather as part of my daily caregiving routine. Although this is an unstable season leading up to a typhoon, I’m grateful to have been able to welcome another peaceful morning today, and I plan to continue taking things at a comfortable pace.
