Year-End Kitchen Cleaning

Cleaning my Okinawa home is an annual tradition I finish by New Year’s Eve. I’ll share the cleaning process on my blog.
To tackle grease around the gas stove and clean the range hood area,
I went to the home center and bought cleaning agents.
At that time, I used the orange-based cleaner “Ultra Orange Ultra S,” recommended by professional cleaning companies in Japan.
I purchased it at the Okinawan home improvement store “Make Man.”

My impressions after using it:
- The scent is a subtle citrus fragrance, not overpowering, making cleaning pleasant.
- It foams moderately but has strong grease-cutting power.
- Spray it onto paper towels, let it sit for a while, then wipe—the grime slides right off.
The photo shows the cleaning in progress.
It’s not a perfect “before and after,” but I feel this kind of real snapshot captures a step forward in daily life.
I wore gloves just to be safe.
For the severely greasy range hood, I placed it in a garbage bag, sprayed it with cleaner, poured in about 60°C (140°F) hot water, and let it soak for about 2 hours.
After that, scrubbing with a brush didn’t make it perfect, but it got the grime off thoroughly.

🌱 An eco-friendly choice too
The fact that it’s 98% plant-derived ingredients is another plus.
Considering Okinawa’s humidity and drainage conditions, this kind of detergent is reassuring to use.
A subtle citrus scent spread, refreshing my mood a little too.

Summary
I bought it at the home center “Make Man”. If your nearest store doesn’t carry it, you can purchase it from Amazon.
