🛏️ The nursing bed has arrived|From unboxing to setup, and Mom’s first impressions

Mom had been saying for a while that she wanted a nursing bed, so I finally took the plunge and bought one.
The model I chose is the Iris Ohyama Folding Coil Electric Bed OTB-CDN.
I ordered it on Amazon, and it took about a week to arrive.
📦 First impressions upon unboxing: Almost no assembly required, which was a huge help
The box it came in was quite large,
but the contents were nearly fully assembled inside, requiring almost no assembly.
Plug in the power cord
Unfold the bed
Just these two steps make it ready to use.
Instructions were included, but they were simple—“just open and unfold”—so there was no confusion.

🛠 Concern: No fall prevention rails
The only thing that bothered me was the lack of side rails to prevent falls.
Since my mother sometimes rolls over in her sleep at night,
I feel this requires a separate solution.
I’m considering a few options for later:
Purchasing rails separately
Moving the bed closer to the wall
Placing a non-slip mat underneath
🏡 Setup process: Prepared during daycare hours
While my mother was at daycare,
I unpacked it and set it up.
Since it’s foldable,
it simply unfolds into the bed shape.
I plan to adjust its placement in the room
after we’ve actually used it for a while.

😴 First night’s comfort: The mattress seems better than Nitori’s
Mom will actually sleep on it starting tonight.
When she lay down briefly in the evening,
she said, “The mattress feels better than the bed I saw at Nitori.”
The coil mattress seems to suit her body well,
and the comfort level appears quite good.
First, we’ll have her use it for one night,
then hear her impressions the next morning to consider any improvements.
🌱 Summary
- No assembly required and easy to handle
- High-quality mattress with positive feedback from Mom
- Only the fall prevention rail needs to be purchased separately
- Currently in the trial phase after one night’s use
While a nursing bed is a significant purchase,
I feel a bit relieved that Mom now has a safe environment to sleep in.
