☀ A refreshingly clear morning in Urasoe
Good morning.
This morning in Urasoe is beautifully clear, with temperatures around 16°C. It’s a bit chilly, but the air is crisp, making for a pleasant start to the day. After several days of clouds and rain, this long-awaited blue sky feels especially welcome.
The news reports heavy snow across mainland Japan, reminding me how different winters can be. Okinawa’s winter is short, and the cold is temporary, so sunny mornings like this feel particularly precious.
🌡 Mom’s Migraines and Barometric Pressure
Yesterday, Mom wasn’t feeling well, probably due to the barometric pressure. She said, “My head hurts, I feel sick,” and spent the whole day lying down. The hospital tests showed nothing unusual; they said it’s likely what’s called “weather sickness” or “barometric pressure sickness.”
As we age, our bodies seem to become more sensitive to these pressure changes. All we can do is give her painkillers and let her rest. It’s worrying to see her like this, but not pushing her is definitely the best approach.
🧹 Slight Improvement This Morning
She seemed to be feeling better this morning and started cleaning her room right after getting up. Since sunny days seem to be continuing, I hope her condition stays stable for a while.
She said she couldn’t take a bath last night because she felt so bad, so she plans to take one this morning.
She also said “I’ll go” when I asked about shopping this afternoon, so it feels like she might have a good day today.

🌸 The state of the cherry blossoms on the balcony
The cherry blossoms visible from the balcony show no signs of blooming yet.
The buds remain tight, and the pink tips aren’t visible either, but they seem poised to burst open all at once once the cold finally breaks.
It looks like they’ve already started blooming on Mount Yaedake in the north; just seeing the news footage makes you feel spring’s arrival.
I’d love to go see them if I have time, but this also depends on Mom’s condition. I hope we can enjoy it within reasonable limits.

🗓 Today’s Plans and Feelings
I don’t know what today will bring, but I plan to take it slow, watching my mother’s condition and doing only what’s manageable.
A sunny morning lifts my spirits, and household chores just seem to get done naturally. If I can go shopping with my mother this afternoon, that alone will be reassuring.
📝 Summary
Yesterday was a worrying day due to my mother’s migraine, but I was relieved to see her feeling a bit better this morning. It seems changes in atmospheric pressure affect us more as we age, so it’s probably inevitable that her condition fluctuates from day to day.
Still, seeing small signs of recovery—like her starting cleaning on this sunny morning or regaining the energy to go shopping—brings me relief.
The cherry blossom buds are still tight, but the season is definitely moving toward spring. While keeping an eye on my mother’s health, I hope to spend today calmly, within reasonable limits.
