🛒 To Nishihara Town’s Farmers Market “Untama Plaza”
This afternoon, I went to Nishihara Town’s farmers market, “Untama Plaza.”
My goal was to get the apple bananas my mom eats every day. They’re a staple variety in Okinawa, smaller than regular bananas with a stronger sweetness and a nice aroma, making them my mom’s favorite. Lately, she eats them so fast that I’ve been going back often to restock.
While browsing the vegetable section, I noticed cabbage and cauliflower were just coming into season. They’re common in Okinawa right now since it’s peak season. Prices are reasonable too, making it a great time to buy.
Vegetables brought in by local farmers are exceptionally fresh. Even the same vegetables have a distinct “field aroma” that sets them apart from supermarket produce, which is part of their charm.
Untama Plaza is bustling even on weekdays, with locals coming in one after another to shop. It’s lively. It’s not geared towards tourists but is a market rooted in daily life, making it a fun place just to walk around.

🏬 Moving to Nishihara Sanei
After that, we headed to Nishihara San-A to grab lunch.
However, the food court was packed with families, and little kids were running around energetically, so it seemed difficult to eat calmly today.
We decided to skip the food court and go to “Osaka Daishō” inside the same building instead. It’s relatively quiet here, perfect for a relaxed meal, which is a lifesaver when I’m with my mom.

🍱 What We Ordered
I ordered the “Osho Set Meal,” and my mother ordered the “Mini Tianjin Rice Set.”
Both were reliably delicious, with generous portions that left us satisfied.
My mother’s appetite has been inconsistent lately, so I was relieved she ate fairly well today. When we eat out, I often end up helping her finish what she can’t eat, so I naturally become more careful when choosing the menu.
After eating, we did a little shopping at San-A, picked up some necessary items, and then headed home.

🌤 Sky and Temperature on the Way Home
On the way home, the sky that had been slightly overcast in the morning had turned completely clear and sunny by the afternoon.
The car’s thermometer showed over 20°C (68°F), and with the windows closed, it felt a bit warm.
It was a typical Okinawan afternoon, with strong sunshine even in winter.
Driving under the blue sky, it was a pleasant journey home, leaving me thinking, “We got some good shopping done today.”

📝 Summary
Today I bought apple bananas and seasonal vegetables at Untama Plaza in Nishihara Town, then had a leisurely lunch at Nishihara Sanei. The food court was bustling, but it was nice to eat calmly at Osaka Oshō.
The afternoon turned beautifully clear, warming the car to over 20°C. I enjoyed a pleasant drive home in unseasonably warm winter weather.
Mom’s health remained stable, making it a manageable day.
I’d be happy if these peaceful afternoons continue.
