🌏 Make It Overseas Too! Easy Meat Udon Recipe

In recent years, “udon” has gained popularity even outside Japan.
Not only frozen udon and dried noodles, but also granulated “bonito dashi” and “kelp dashi” have become easier to find, reflecting the spread of the Japanese food boom.
So this time, we introduce a recipe for “Quick Meat Udon” that’s easy to make even overseas.
It’s not authentic, but it’s simple to make at home and very tasty, so please give it a try. 

🥣 Ingredients (Serves 1-2)

  • Frozen udon noodles … 2 servings
  • Pork (or beef/chicken is also OK) … as needed
  • Onion … 1/4 to 1/2 onion
  • Granulated dashi (half bonito, half kelp) … as needed
  • Soy sauce … 1-2 tablespoons
  • Mirin … 1 tablespoon (or a little sugar if unavailable)
  • Sake … 1 tablespoon
  • Green onions … to taste
  • Chili pepper (optional)

🍲 Instructions

Add water to a pot, add the granulated dashi (half bonito, half kelp), and bring to a boil.

Add seasonings

Once boiling, add sake, soy sauce, and mirin (or sugar).
This completes the simple udon broth.

Simmer meat and onion

Add onion and pork to the broth and simmer.
You can also use beef or chicken instead of pork for a delicious result.

Add green onions

Add chopped green onions to the pot and warm them lightly.

Add frozen udon noodles

Add the frozen udon noodles to the warmed broth. Once they separate, it’s ready.

Serve the udon

First, serve the udon noodles alone in a bowl.

Pour the broth

Reheat the broth in the pot and pour it over the udon in the bowl.

Arrange the toppings neatly and serve.
Add chili pepper to taste if desired.
