This morning was almost completely windless, with a stillness so profound that only the tips of the grass swayed ever so slightly. The cherry trees stood motionless, their young leaves still fresh, while the sky stretched out blue and the clouds barely moved in the distance. The sunlight was dazzling, and the chirping of birds could be heard from afar—it was a morning where I felt the “pleasure of a windless day” for the first time in a long while. It seems the birds are enjoying this calm atmosphere as well.

For breakfast, she had the donuts I bought last night, a little coffee, and yogurt with frozen fruit. After taking her medicine, she started getting ready, saying, “I’m going to light incense at Hinukan.” She plans to take a bath this morning, so she said she’ll take it easy until then.

Since she slept all day yesterday, she seems to be planning to go for a walk and do some shopping starting at noon today. My younger brother is here this morning, so it looks like we’ll be going shopping together this afternoon.

The cherry blossoms have completely turned into young leaves, and the surrounding trees are filled with green. I’m looking forward to the upcoming cherry season.

I didn’t do much myself, but now that my mother’s and my taxes are done, I can breathe a sigh of relief.

After that, I cleared away the breakfast dishes and ran the dishwasher, wrapping up the morning chores. I also finished hanging up the laundry, and the day got off to a great start.
