Cloudy Morning in Okinawa, Urasoe | Rainy Season Weather and Daily Life
☁️ This Morning’s Weather and Seasonal Atmosphere in Urasoe, Okinawa
This morning in Urasoe, Okinawa, the sky is cloudy, with temperatures around 24°C and humidity in the 70s, enveloping us in the damp, humid air typical of the rainy season. Dark clouds stretch out in the distance, and with rain forecast for this afternoon, it looks like it will be another humid day. During the rainy season in Okinawa, the weather can change suddenly, and our daily rhythms tend to be influenced by it. Today, I’ll be recording the morning scene in Urasoe, Okinawa, and our daily life.

🍳 A Leisurely Start to the Morning and How My Mother Is Doing
This morning, I woke up a little later than usual and spent some quiet time watching the news on TV. After that, I filled the kettle with water to boil and was getting ready to make tea when my mother woke up and went to the bathroom. When she came back, she said, “I’m going back to sleep,” so I told her, “You should eat breakfast and take your medicine first,” and had her drink some tea before anything else.
For breakfast, I prepared rolled omelet, grilled salmon, and bacon. I served rice and set aside a small portion to offer at my father’s Buddhist altar. My mother ate slowly but thoroughly, which was a relief. It’s a blessing that she has an appetite even on a humid morning like this.

🛒 Today’s Plans and Grocery Shopping
Neither my mother nor I have any major errands today; we’ll just go grocery shopping if we can. There’s nothing we absolutely need, but since we’re going through water and tea faster than usual, I’d like to stock up a little extra. During the rainy season when the heat intensifies, we inevitably end up drinking more fluids.
My mother’s condition is stable—neither good nor bad—but since the forecast calls for the weather to turn around around noon, it would be best to go out early if we do. I plan to decide whether to go alone or together, depending on how she’s feeling.
🌧️ The Second Half of the Rainy Season and Okinawa’s Weather Characteristics
Long-term forecasts suggest the weather will improve starting around next weekend, with the end of the rainy season approaching. However, rainfall tends to increase during the latter half of the rainy season, and this year, heavy rain and landslide warnings continue in the northern regions.
Okinawa’s rainy season is characterized by “mostly cloudy skies in the first half and increased rainfall in the second half,” and we’re right in the middle of that phase now. I find myself hoping it will rain only on the tops of the dams—just enough to prevent any damage…

🐶 An Event at Make Man and Memories from the Past
The other day, I went to Make Man to fix a shelf and noticed they seemed to be preparing for some kind of event. According to a morning radio broadcast, they’re holding a pet adoption fair. It looks like several food trucks will be there as well, so it seems like an event where you can enjoy a meal while you’re there.
When I was in elementary school, I was bitten by the same dog twice in a row, and ever since then, I’ve had a hard time around dogs. I can manage to pet a cat, but generally, I prefer to keep my distance. Still, I think this is a great event for pet lovers, so if you’re interested, please do stop by.

🌡️ Today’s Weather Highlights for Okinawa and Urasoe
During the rainy season in Okinawa, high humidity makes it feel much hotter than the actual temperature.
Today in Urasoe, humidity will be in the 70–80% range, so even though it’s cloudy, it’s likely to feel muggy.
Since the rain may intensify in the afternoon, I recommend heading out early.
To prevent heatstroke, be sure to stay hydrated by drinking water frequently.
🌱 Summary
Today in Okinawa and Urasoe, the sky will be cloudy, with rain forecast starting in the early afternoon. Amid the typical rainy season humidity, I plan to spend a leisurely morning, keep an eye on my mother’s health, and figure out what groceries we need to buy. The weather is unstable, so let’s take it easy and do what we can.
