🌅 Daily Life in Minato-gawa, Urasoe, Okinawa, and How Things Look This Morning | A [Cloudy with Occasional Sun] Sky and Today’s Routine (October 6, 2026)

浦添の秋

This morning, I prepared cinnamon rolls and coffee, and apple tea for my mother. Last night, I accompanied her to get her flu shot, and the nurse warned us that she “might develop a fever,” but I was relieved to see her walking around the house without any issues this morning. Since she has day care this afternoon, she plans to rest quietly in the morning. As the seasons change, it’s easy for one’s health to fluctuate, so it’s important to take things at a comfortable pace.

💧 Severe Shoulder Pain and Treatment at the Orthopedic Clinic

I’ve been unable to sleep at night due to severe shoulder pain that’s persisted for the past two weeks or so, so I went to see an orthopedic doctor. The X-ray results suggested there might be calcium buildup near the joint. Apparently, this is a condition where the cause is often unclear, and it can sometimes cause intense pain.

Treatment consists of injections of a mixture of hyaluronic acid and another medication, along with painkillers. The deep injection from the back was very painful, and I imagine the treatment was quite a difficult experience. She said she felt a little better this morning, which is the most important step forward. Since the changing of the seasons is also a time when joint pain is common, it seems best to take it easy for a while and wait for recovery.

🍂 Tips for Living During This Season

In Okinawa, October is a time when the days still hold a hint of summer, while the mornings and evenings grow cooler due to the north wind. The following tips can be helpful for caregiving and daily life.

Since the morning north wind can easily chill the body, keep a light jacket by the front door.

As humidity begins to drop, be mindful of a dry throat (especially for the elderly).

Changes in atmospheric pressure can trigger joint pain and headaches, so avoid going out unnecessarily.

Carefully monitor your health the day after receiving a flu shot.

I’ve compiled these as seasonal living tips that will also be helpful to others providing care in the same area.

🌿 Summary

The signs of autumn carried by the north wind, my mother’s health, and the progress of my shoulder treatment—all of these are precious records that carefully capture “today’s life.” Even if I couldn’t write for a few days, the fact that I was able to record this morning’s events again is what matters most. Let’s continue at a pace that doesn’t strain us.
