🏛️ The Journey to Get a Seal Registration Certificate at City Hall
I decided to pick up a seal registration certificate at City Hall while out shopping in the afternoon. My mother was staying home alone, so I went out by myself.
As I approached the City Hall parking lot, the traffic jam was worse than I expected. Several security guards were directing cars here and there. After waiting 15 minutes, I finally managed to park in a covered space and entered the city hall.
Heading to the reception desk, I realized I’d forgotten my seal registration card. Explaining the situation, I was told,
“You can get it issued at the terminal next to the copy machine in the convenience store using your My Number Card. Plus, the fee is 100 yen cheaper.”
So I headed to the convenience store next to the city hall.
Though fumbling with the unfamiliar controls, I found the “Administrative Services” menu on the screen. Battling my presbyopia, I located the “Seal Registration Certificate” option. After inserting 200 yen in cash and proceeding, a fax-like sound played, and I successfully received my seal registration certificate.
This experience taught me I can use this method next time, so I learned something new.
🛒 Shopping at Sanei and the Crowded Parking Lot
After leaving city hall, I headed straight to Sanei for shopping. With light rain falling, the parking lot was pretty crowded.
“Not again…” I thought just as a spot opened up. Luckily, I managed to park near the entrance.
Inside wasn’t as busy as I’d expected, and I could push my cart around smoothly. I finished my shopping by buying rice for stockpiling (¥2,900).
🍩 Takeout from Mister Donut
After shopping, I stopped by Mister Donut for coffee. The store was packed with people waiting in line. I waited for a while on the bench outside until the line shortened, then joined it.
Since my mother was home alone, I took two donuts to go. Returning to the parking lot, I noticed traffic congestion on the usual route, so I took a different, narrow mountain road home. This turned out to be the right choice, allowing us to get home smoothly.

🏠 Tidying up after arriving home and time with Mom
I pulled the car up in front of the apartment to unload the groceries, called out to my mother, then returned the car to the parking lot. During that time, she had already started putting the groceries away.
Since it was just the bare essentials, she mentioned needing more items. But since we’d just shopped today, I suggested, “Let’s do it the day after tomorrow,” and she agreed.
After putting everything away, we shared the donuts I bought. My mother ate only half one. When she said, “I don’t have anything to drink,” I offered her tea. She initially said, “Not this,” but when I explained, “This is all we have,” she accepted it. After that, she rested in bed watching TV until dinner.
🍛 Making Dinner and Closing Out the Day
After resting a bit, I worked on my computer while thinking about dinner. I looked online and decided on “Curried Cod.”
I stir-fried some green beans and cauliflower I’d boiled the other day too, making for a colorful dinner.
After eating, I gave my mother her medicine, and we spent some quiet time together. I loaded the dishes into the dishwasher, took a bath, and the day ended peacefully.
