☁️ This Morning’s Weather and Sky Conditions

It’s cloudy in Okinawa this morning. The temperature is 24°C, and it’s forecast to rise to 26°C during the day.

The chance of precipitation is 0%, so it looks like it will remain cloudy all day, making for comfortable weather.

The wind is blowing at about 2–3 m/s, with occasional stronger gusts. The clouds were thick, and the sun hadn’t yet broken through this morning.

🍞Morning Routine and Mom’s Condition

Right after waking up, I started the washing machine and prepared breakfast with bread and coffee.

Mom had her usual routine: a leisurely meal of tea and bread, followed by taking her medicine and checking her blood pressure.

She seemed to be in good spirits today; after breakfast, she walked around with the vacuum cleaner and even wiped down the floors with a Quickle Wiper.

While hanging up the laundry, I watched the clouds moving outside. The forecast calls for bad weather tomorrow, so I really hope everything dries thoroughly today.

🌊Hama-Uri and the Arrival of the Seaside Season

This month’s weekend is “Hama-Uri.” It’s an event reminiscent of the old-fashioned “opening of the beach” ceremonies, and there’s a tradition of going to the beach starting today to collect shells or bring a packed lunch for a day out.

“Fresh mozuku” starts appearing around this time, and supermarkets stock it in large quantities. It’s incredibly versatile—you can use it not only in vinegar-based dishes but also in tempura and chawanmushi.

It’s also the season for “bonito,” and personally, I prefer the bonito from Motobu. I can’t forget the taste of the fish I bought at a shop a local recommended when I lived in the northern part of the island.

⛽ Concerns About Rising Gas Prices

Last night’s news reported that the average price of gasoline in Okinawa is on the rise again.

As of yesterday, the average was 167 yen, marking the second consecutive week of price increases.

In car-dependent Okinawa, gas prices are a direct concern for daily life, so I think it’s time to fill up my tank and see how things go.
