Sanei is a supermarket chain in Okinawa.
My usual moment spent at “Coffee Time”
Today, I visited the coffee shop “Coffee Time” inside Sanei in Okinawa.
I often stop by for light meals—sandwiches and coffee, pasta and coffee—and love its calm, old-school coffee shop vibe. It feels like a nostalgic “everyday coffee shop,” different from the sleek cafes like Starbucks or Tully’s.
On weekdays, the shop becomes a place of respite for housewives.
Weekday afternoons are filled with veteran housewives enjoying lunch and conversation.
The menu features daily specials, pasta, doria, and other dishes that are just the right amount and variety.
It might be a bit light for those doing physical labor, but with the wide selection of desserts, many people linger after their meal with something sweet and coffee.
I looked up “Where is the first store?” but…
I was curious and looked for the first store, but even searching online didn’t turn up much information.
It seems to be a San-A directly-operated coffee shop within Okinawa Prefecture, and its charm lies in the blend of chain-like familiarity and local character.
Today’s Order
I visited around 3 PM today, so I ordered coffee and my mother ordered a fruit waffle.
When I go for lunch, I often order a sandwich with potatoes and coffee, or pasta.
Everything is unpretentious, with just the right taste and portion size for everyday use.
