🌤 This morning’s sky and temperature
Good morning.
This morning’s temperature is **19°C**, with a forecast high of **21°C**. The forecast says “cloudy with occasional rain,” but right now the eastern sky is clear with sunshine streaming through, making for a pleasant morning.
It’s a strange sky pattern—cloudy in the west, clear in the east. Only the tips of the bamboo sway gently, and the young cherry leaves, bathed in light, appear even more vividly green.

☕ Morning Routine and Offering for Father
This morning, I boiled water in the kettle, brewed coffee, and fried eggs in a pan.
I warmed sliced bread in the air oven, made sandwiches with eggs and bacon inside.
While calling out to Mom to “wake up~,” I offered one of the quartered sandwiches, along with coffee, to Dad’s Buddhist altar. I lit candles and incense and spoke to him.

😴 Mom’s Health and Barometric Pressure
Mom got up once but soon started fussing about wanting to sleep. She ate a banana, took her medicine, and rested again.
The barometric pressure app showed “pressure system passing through,” making it a day when her condition is prone to fluctuation. Today seems likely to be a day of repeating this pattern.

⛽ Gasoline Prices and Okinawa’s Car-Dependent Society
Yesterday, before heading to my computer class, I filled up the gas tank. It was **¥151 per liter**.
It’s slightly higher than last week, a tough price for everyday people.
Okinawa is a car-dependent society. There are no trains, only a monorail around Naha.
I try to do my shopping as close to home as possible.

💻 Computer Class and Tax Filing Crowds
Today was another computer class day. It’s the second of four sessions this month.
The classroom is in the Chamber of Commerce building, but the parking lot is chaotic this time of year due to tax filings.
Many of the people heading to the entrance are elderly; I imagine they’re all filing their taxes on computers.
I was lucky my brother had a card reader, so I could file from home.

🌱 Seasonal Changes in the Garden
The cherry tree in the garden is now fully covered in young leaves.
Cherry season is approaching, but Okinawan cherry fruits are bitter and inedible. I tried them when I was in elementary school, and none were sweet.
Still, the little birds happily come to eat them.
The bamboo tips sway gently, their color shifting to a more vivid blue than in winter. It’s a morning that makes you feel the seasons changing.
