☀️ A refreshing morning with a hint of summer in the air
Good morning.
This morning in Okinawa, the skies cleared up early, with a temperature of 24°C. The forecast calls for a high of 26°C, and the wind was so gentle—blowing at 2–4 m/s—that it was barely noticeable. Opening the window, I felt a refreshing breeze occasionally sweep through, and the sunlight already had that intense summer feel to it.
Although there were a few clouds, there was little sign of rain, and I started the day feeling like it would be another perfect day for doing laundry.

👵 Mom’s Morning Routine and Changes in Her Condition
In the morning, I started the washing machine and then woke Mom up. Unusually for her, she got up without any trouble. After using the restroom, she sat in her chair and watched the news about last night’s earthquake on TV, muttering to herself, “That’s scary… Is it still happening?”
Seeing her like that, I felt a little relieved, as it seemed like our usual mornings were back.
For breakfast, she had bread, tea, scrambled eggs, and a little bacon.
When I reminded her, “Eat your breakfast and take your medicine,” she had a good appetite today and finished everything, taking her medicine properly. She complained of a slight headache, but perhaps the medicine worked—after eating, she seemed calm and her expression softened.
After that, surprisingly, she started cleaning on her own, vacuuming and even using a Quickle Wiper.
Days like this are a sign that she’s feeling well; her movements are light, and I can tell she’s in a positive mood.
When you’re a caregiver, these “good days” are truly a joy, and they brighten my spirits too.

👕 A Blue Sky Perfect for Laundry and Tomorrow’s Plans
After my mother finished breakfast and cleaning, I looked up at the sky while hanging out the laundry.
The blue sky stretched out above, and although there were a few clouds, the sunlight was streaming through, making for very pleasant weather. It’s been sunny for the past few days, so the laundry dries well, and the weather is perfect for airing out the futons.
However, I had a lot of laundry today, and the balcony was completely full, so I decided to air out the futons tomorrow. The weather forecast for tomorrow also shows sunny skies, so I’m looking forward to them drying up nice and fluffy.

🗑️ A Convenient 24-Hour Trash Station
After finishing the laundry, I gathered the trash and took it to the trash station.
There’s a large trash station in this area, and it’s really convenient that you can **dispose of trash 24 hours a day**. Many people drop off their trash before work or after coming home, and I’m reminded once again how grateful I am to live in an environment where I’m not tied to a schedule.
Today, I also took the opportunity to dispose of my plastic bottles.

🚐 Mom’s Day Care and How She Spends the Afternoon
Today is the day Mom goes to day care in the afternoon. She’s feeling well, so I’m sure she’ll have a good time.
I’m scheduled to pick her up at 1:00 PM, and she’ll be home by 5:00 PM. At day care, they do exercises, chat, take physical fitness tests, and check blood pressure. Former nurses and physical therapists make rounds, so I feel at ease.
Since there’s a physical therapy school nearby, students sometimes come to observe, and my mother seems to enjoy that atmosphere.
Also, around 3:00 PM, a few younger elementary school students from the neighborhood apparently stop by to say hello, and they chat for a bit before heading home. I think these everyday interactions provide good stimulation for my mother.

🛒 Shopping in the Afternoon: A Little Treat
While my mother is at day care, I plan to go shopping.
It’s a little treat for me to walk through the aisles, restocking what we need and looking for bargains.
Taking my time to browse the store while thinking, “I wonder if I’ll find anything good today,” is a nice change of pace for me, too.
