“Did something happen?” she asked, sounding concerned, but from my perspective, I thought, “I got a call from you yesterday while I was at the hospital, didn’t I?”

To that, my aunt simply replied, “I didn’t call.”

It’s the same in every family, but as we get older, we tend to completely forget what happened “yesterday.”

I woke my mother up and handed her the phone, and they chatted happily for about 20 minutes.

I feel like moments like these calm my mother’s mind more than I realize.

I had a hospital appointment first thing yesterday morning, so I was rushing around with no time to write a blog post.

I wanted to leave the house by 9:30, but as usual, Mom wasn’t making much progress getting ready, so we ended up leaving at 9:40.

As we approached the Urasoe Police Station, the road was blocked off with major traffic restrictions.

Thinking, “Maybe there was an accident?” I took a detour to the hospital,

and while waiting, I saw on the news that they were **disposing of an unexploded bomb near Maeda Monorail Station**.

“Ah, that explains it,” I thought, and it all made sense.

After the appointment, we went to Kyozuka San-A.

It was crowded even though it was a weekday; I suppose some people were grabbing a meal while they were out evacuating.

We went to Wafutei at my mother’s request, but it was full with a five-group wait.

After waiting about 30 minutes, we leisurely enjoyed the “Tedako Set Meal” and the “Tempura and Soba Set Meal.”

I picked up my medication at the pharmacy and finally headed home.

Yesterday morning was truly hectic.

It’s been raining since this morning, making it difficult to go out, so
